The Government of Sierra Leone proposed to harness the potential around the Lungi airport (the main air terminal in the country) which is mainly accessed from Freetown (the nation’s capital) by a 40min ferry journey across the lagoon.
An 80 Ha piece of land was identified and a proposal was developed to create an ‘Airport City’ comprising financial and residential districts, together with a mining & minerals logistics centre all laid out around a hospitality and retail centre forming the nucleus of the layout.
