L’Air Centrum Building, Ikeja, Lagos

Offices and Business Premises

The Project, a regional centre for an energy and gas establishment to service the aviation industry, was won in a competitive bid in collaboration with a construction company, Construction Kaiser Ltd (CKL).

Originally conceived as a barrel to mimic the storage tanks in the surrounding aviation fuel farm, the project was subsequently scaled and modified to include a rectilinear form.

The Design

It was designed as a glass box, but with a façade clad with geometrically shaped Titanium Dioxide panels. This, apart from keeping the U-values low thereby reducing the cooling load within the building, also neutralizes certain pollutants in the air, purifying the atmosphere around the building.

This, apart from keeping the U-values low thereby reducing the cooling load within the building, also neutralizes certain pollutants in the air, purifying the atmosphere around the building.

These together with other measures and components employed in the proposal are designed to enhance a good sustainability rating for the building. The project is in the Detailed Design stage, and it is hoped that it will be on site by Q1 of 2019.
